Blog #10 My occupation went well this week and I finally tired out throwing on the pottery wheel for the first time since high school. The techniques and difficulty of throwing vs just molding clay with your hands is so much different. There is a lot of trial and error in this and I definitely had a few failed attempts where my pots got lopsided and I had to start over. I am so happy I tried throwing again even though it was a little daunting to try it without an instructor as I had the last time I threw. In the end I made a small bowl that I will let dry a little and carve some designs into. Even though this is my last blog post I have experienced so many benefits from my occupation and it brings me a lot of happiness, so I plan to continue my pottery and continue to create to pieces. Blog Post #9 During my life I think there have been times I have been in occupational balance but also many times in which I have been out of occupational balance. Reflecting back, I think that my senior year of my undergraduate degree I had great occupational balance. There are a few reasons this time in my life stands out to me, but I think the main reason was the many different activities I was involved in. I was still in school although my classes at this point were slightly more relaxed, and I was in less credit hours allowing me freedom and flexibility. Along with my schoolwork I had a job and was on the exec board of my sorority which brought a lot of value into my life. Finally, I enjoyed going to the gym and had a good friend group at the time. All of these factors contributed to my occupational balance during this time in my life.
